The European Union has placed micro-credentials at the heart of its skills and education agenda, creating a strong policy framework in which AUTOCREDIFY develops its activities. The European Skills Agenda (2020) and the Council Recommendation on a European Approach to Micro-Credentials (2022) established a common vision: short, quality-assured learning opportunities that are flexible, portable, and widely recognized across Member States. Complementary initiatives such as the Digital Education Action Plan (2021–2027) and the European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan (2021) further reinforce their role in lifelong learning, employability, and the green and digital transitions. Building on this momentum, EU processes such as the Bologna Process, Erasmus+ pilots, and the European Year of Skills (2023) have advanced the integration of micro-credentials into higher education, vocational training, and labour market systems. AUTOCREDIFY aligns with this policy direction by designing trusted and labour-market-relevant micro-credentials that respond to the specific needs of the automotive ecosystem, ensuring consistency with EU standards while supporting innovation and skills development at sectoral level.
